Project Manager Construction

Full Job Description

1) Review of drawings and specifications as well as project schedules and coordination of shop fabrication schedules.
2) Executes submittals of all shop drawings.
3) Submittals of Advanced Bill of Materials.
4) Review and tracking of all change orders throughout the project.
5) Attending job site meetings and maintaining close professional relationships with customers.
6) Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
7) Proficient in reading blueprints and contract drawings.

Duties:

  • Managing projects: This includes preparing and attending kickoff meetings.
  • Before the project begins, become knowledgeable of contract terms and schedule.
  • Coordinating with the Management team, Contractor, Detailer, Shop and Field; to maintain agreed job schedule.
  • Monitoring project schedules; regarding submittals, approvals, and shop fabrication releases. Identify and communicate possible delays or problems to project management team.
  • Organize detailing RFI process through formal RFI to customer and informal RFI’s with the engineer, architect, and general contractor.
  • Establishes project sequencing.
  • If issues arise, meet with customers and vendors to identify and resolve the problems that will maximize production and minimize costs.
  • Managing changes orders and have the ability to assertively get them processed and billed.
  • Managing drawing revisions and keeping drawing logs up to date.
  • Keeping Drawing Logs up to date.
  • Coordinating loads for shipping.
  • As needed you will assist in change order meetings with the General Contractor.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Training
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years related experience as a Project/Construction Manager.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Business may substitute for 3 years of the required experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience:
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient in modeling, assemblies, and drawing preparation.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and capabilities, DFM.
  • Experience designing complex steel fixtures and tooling.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to large groups
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Math skills

TIG Welder/Fabricator

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Must have experience in welding aluminum, mild steel, & stainless steel
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience welding in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to set-up machines, read blueprints, fit-up, & weld
  • Advanced knowledge of welding practices
  • Advanced knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerancing & dimensions
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands & is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules
  • Must possess basic math skills including but not limited to: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose calculating material fabrication
  • Blueprint reading

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Perform TIG, TIG and other types of weld based on project needs
  • Verify material sizes
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
  • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions
  • Interpret drawings to cut, notch, fit, and weld materials to proper specifications
  • Monitor and verify the accuracy of each job’s initial set-up and final outcome
  • Assists in the solution of complex plant operating problems and/or cost reduction projects
  • Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
